چکیده
Information on diet composition and feeding habits of species is very much essential for the scientific planning to develop sustainable management plans. The biology Trichiurus lepturus was studied during 2014 2018 from 6167 3346 specimens collected a weekly basis along Eastern Arabian Sea (EAS) Western Bay Bengal (WBB), respectively. Crustaceans mainly represented Acetes spp. (98.6 %) were categorized as dominant preferred (%QI = 51.35; %IRI 53.31) food item; teleosts secondary 47.46; 45.71) items molluscs accidental accessory T. lepturrus based values dietary coefficient Index Relative Importance while, completely 99.61; 99.27) with both 0.34; 0.56) crustaceans 0.01; 0.17) forming (WBB). teleostean prey belonging 23 genera encountered in guts EAS Stolephorus (17.09 %), Sardinella longiceps (6.65 Decapterus (5.75 Rastrelliger kanagurta (1.36 Megalaspis cordyla (0.89 major component; whereas, WBB, 16 representing (50 (31.52 (4.57 (2.26 formed portion by %IRI. dominated (52.61% IRI) EAS, while other crustaceans’ contribution item negligible. Trace metal contents in zooplankton samples were estimated as a part of the Marine Research–Living Resource program at 24 stations in the Bay of Bengal (November, 2002) and 29 stations in the Arabian Sea (September–October, 2003) during the Cruises 209 and 217 of the Fishery and Oceanographic Research Vessel Sagar Sampada. The average metal concentrations in the Bay of Bengal zooplankton (Fe, 1...

Research Article: Life history traits of ribbonfish Trichiurus lepturus (Linnaeus, 1758) in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea
Ribbonfish, Trichiurus lepturus (Linnaeus, 1758), is an important component of subsistence fisheries throughout its tropical and subtropical distribution. The catch rate of ribbonfish has increased seven-fold in a decade in the Persian Gulf and Oman Sea. We collected monthly biological samples from T. lepturus, to estimate growth and mortality parameters, and identify species reproductive patte...

Trichiurus lepturus (ribbon fish) was collected from different spatial locations (south west (SW) coast edging the Arabian Sea and south east (SE) coast surrounding the Bay of Bengal of India) and seasons (pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon) during a continuous period of four years (2008 through 2011), and their edible muscles were studied for differential nutritional compositions of protein...
